2021 Community Development Grant Recipients

Wabasso Athletics- $8,800
The funds will be used to purchase and install a digital board in the gym, allowing for advertising, replays, and highlights during all events.
City of Lucan- $4,500​
The funds will be used to add a commercial grade play structure to meet the developmental and safety needs of children 2-5 years of age.

2020 Community Development Grant Recipients
​Wabasso Softball Association- $5,000
The funds will be used to renovate and add improvements to the softball field already used by WHS Softball, Youth Softball, Youth Boys baseball, Summerfest and K-12 school physical education programs.  It will include infield renovations, field seeding, fencing, awnings and benches, bleachers for fans and supporters, cement, irrigation improvements, field equipment, concessions.  Total project cost of $20,350.00
Additional funds have been committed from individual and local business donations, Rabbit Pride Gala, District 640, Field signs sponsored by local businesses, and concession stand revenues.
Seaforth Fire Department- $2,000
The funds will be used for the 1996 Freightliner Fire Dept pumper.  Additional funds have been committed from the Seaforth Booster Club, fundraisers, matching grants, and individual donations.  Total project cost of $32,000.00
Vesta City Park- $2,000
The funds will be used to add a restroom to the existing shelter.   Total project cost $18,000.00
St. Anne’s School- $1,500
The funds will be used to replace the bleachers currently in place in the school gymnasium. 
Additional funds have been committed from St. Anne’s school, and additional fundraising/grant awards will complete the funding.  Total project cost of $16,000.00
Wanda Softball Association- $1,500
The funds will be used to update the City Park shelter by adding steel roof and steel siding. 
Additional funds have been committed from fundraisers and grant awards.
Total project cost of $11,323.65
Lucan Booster Club- $1,000
The funds will be used replace the existing merry-go-round in the City Park as part of the continued revitalization process of the park.  There would also be a safety wear mat around the piece of equipment.  Additional funds have been committed from fundraisers and donations.  Total project cost of $4,921.00

2019 Mini-Grant Recipients
Redwood County LINC- $500 to cover expenses for Wabasso session
Lucan Booster Club- $1,000 for 3 bay swing set for City Park
Lucan- $1,000 to add sidewalk between shelter house and ballfield
St. Anne's School - $1,000 for new scoreboard
Wanda- $1,000 for City Park shelter repair
2019 Community Development Grant Recipients

The Five Star Community Foundation 2019 Community Development Grants were presented to the recipients  June 5th.
​
Wanda Softball Association/City of Wanda- $6,000.  The funds will be used to help cover costs in replacing the fence, total project cost estimated at $24,000. 
Additional funds have been committed from the Softball Association fundraiser, with matching funds from Modern Woodman, and the Wanda 333 Club.

Lucan Booster Club Playground Committee/City of Lucan- $4,550
The funds will be used to replace existing equipment from the City park and replace with new commercial grade playground equipment.  Total cost of the project is estimated $18,201.37.
Additional funds have been committed from the Lucan Booster Club, Lucan Lions Club, Fundraisers, and Donations.

Seaforth Booster Club/City of Seaforth- $4,500
The funds will be used in revitalizing the Community Center/Legion by removing old carpet and adding barn wood for the walls, and updating the steel on the outside of building.  Total project cost estimated at $19,000.
Additional funds have been committed from Seaforth Booster Club and fundraiser.

2018 Mini-Grant Recipients
Lucan Booster Club- $1,000 for Accordian Door for Community Center
Harvey Gladitsch Post 306, Vesta- $1,000 for replacement window on front of Vesta Legion Hall
Serenity Suites Senior Living- $500 for sound bar, popcorn machine, stereo system
WHS Theatre- $250 for theatre support and supplies
WHS Flex Seating- $250 for flexible seating

2018 Community Development Grant Recipients

Wabasso Area Baseball Association received $10,000. The funds are being used for the lighting at the new ballfield.
City of Vesta- $1500 for converting city truck to fire dept grass rig
Redwood County LINC- $500 for expenses for Wabasso session
