2016 Community Development Grant Recipients

Wabasso Lions
The Wabasso Lions were awarded $5000 towards cement work at the Community Park. Andy Simon (left) from the Wabasso Lions accepted the check from Five Star board member Ted Suss.

Wanda Fire Department
The Wanda Fire Dept was awarded $2500 towards the purchase of a replacement pumper. Alex Rohlik (left-center)from the Wanda Fire Dept accepted the check from Five Star board members Susan Schilling, Ted Suss, and Vicki Irlbeck.

Seaforth Booster Club
The Seaforth Booster Club was was awarded $2500 towards enclosing the Community Shelter. Chris Rohlik (left-center) from the Seaforth Booster Club accepted the check from Five Star board members Pam Sheeran, Jeff Rohlik, and Ted Suss.

Vesta City Council
Vesta was awarded $2500 towards improvements to the Community Center. Ryan Paul (left-center) from the City of Vesta accepted the check from Five Star board members Karen Lemcke, Ted Suss, and Josh Krause.

2016 Mini-Grant Awards:
City of Vesta received $1000 to use for upgrading technical equipment of the Community Hall (purchase LCD projector, screen, power cord)
Wanda Fire Dept received $1000 to purchase scene lights
Lucan American Legion Post 467 received $500 for Veterans Monument and Flag light
Lucan Historical Society received $500 for bell tower replacement

2015- Vesta, MN

A new face lift was done recently with mini grant from 5-Star Foundation. Metal siding was added to exterior walls and stained plywood interior boards replaced the interior walls. Volunteers completing this project were Duffy Jenniges and
Harlan and Jeff Lemcke. Trees around park were another 5 Star Project some years back and have really grown.

2015- Ralph Lamb American Legion

Seaforth, Mn

The Ralph Lamb American Legion Post in Seaforth received a $3,000 grant from the Five Star Community Foundation to help with the costs of replacing the Legions original ceiling and adding insulation to reduce heating and cooling costs. 2014 - Wanda Community Center

Wanda, Mn

Vicki Irlbeck representing the Five Star Foundation presents Karen Weber, the City of Wanda Mayor with the Grants that were awarded to the Wanda SAL. The grants, $8000.00 from the Five Star Community Foundation and $2000.00 from the Wanda Community Foundation will be used to cover some of the expenses for the upgrade of the Wanda Community Hall. The women's bathroom was completely redone, bar entrance widened, hall was repainted, many electrical outlets were added, booths were removed and accent lighting was added.

2014- Wabasso Area Baseball Association

Wabasso, MN

The Wabasso Area Baseball Association received a grant of $10,000 from the Five Star Community Foundation towards the baseball field.

2014- Lucan Community Center
Lucan, Mn

The City of Lucan is very pleased to receive a grant from the Five Star Community Foundation in the amount of $5000.00. The grant along with donations from local organizations will allow the City of Lucan to make necessary improvements and renovations to the community center. These renovations will provide a safer and more comfortable environment for the many activities that take place at the community center. The City of Lucan thanks the Five Star Community Foundation for the generous grant.

2012 - Wanda Community Center (Legion)

The Five Star Community Foundation granted $4,000.00 for Men's Bathrooms in the Wanda Community Center. This was a wonderful update for future activities!

2012 - Early Childhood Coalition

Wabasso, Mn

Five-Star Community Foundation member, PJ Bock presenting check to Dawn Guetter for $1,000.00 for the Early Childhood Coalition through ISD#640 Wabasso Public School. Mails books to families of birth to 5 year old children with the intent to foster a love of reading among preschool children and families.

2012 - Seaforth Fire Department

Seaforth, Mn

Five Star Community Foundation members, Karen Lemcke and Pam Sheeran presented Tom Bernardy (Chief, Seaforth Fire Dept) with a grant check of $7,000 towards the new fire hall.

2011 - Wanda Softball Association

Wanda, Mn

The city of Wanda received a $1,000 grant from the Five Star Community Foundation for the Wanda Softball Association to be used towards the repair of the park concession stand in the spring. 2011 - Vesta Community Park

Vesta, Mn

Harvey E. Gladitsch Legion Post #306 from Vesta received a $500 mini-grant through the Five Star Community Foundation for the planting of 3 trees at the Vesta Community Park which were destroyed by the July 1st 2011 storm. These are primary trees along the driveway entering the park. The trees will be planted by the Redwood Falls Nursery this Spring.
